GOSPEL MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL

Lighthouse Village Newsletter
September 1997

God is moving by His Spirit in the lives of those who are seeking Him!

It is to get specific answers from God!

Supper was over after a long day. The dishes were washed and put away. Then all of us at Lighthouse gathered around the table to seek the Lord for His mind concerning some pressing issues in our daily ministries.

For three hours we brought things before the Lord and sought His divine help.

Then it was suggested that we ask Him to give each of us something as we waited in silence before Him.

The grace of God is far beyond comprehension or adequate expression. It was an awesome experience.

Presently each person began taking notes, looking up passages of Scripture. The Lord is truly close to us at all times, intimately so.

We were all joyously waiting to hear what the Lord had given each one.

To some He gave words or thoughts of encouragement or instruction. Some received Scripture references to look up and read. Some received a combination of two or more of these blessings.

Everyone rejoiced as we witnessed the harmony and dovetailing of everyone's gift from God with each other's.

We left the table that evening with a peace about those "pressing" matters that we hadn't had in some time.

Oh, how we need the Lord!

How we need to seek Him!

And believe Him for specific answers to our needs.

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your rememberance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

"Never give up, Never -- Never -- Never."

By Jim Porteous

An elderly Winston Churchill after some trouble making his way to the podium at his alma matter years after World War II, spoke the above words only, then returned to his seat.

I was told recently by some long-standing friends that, "I had lost their friendship." Their letter went on to explain that they were unhappy with my comments on bringing America back to God. Let me first say kindly,

"I LOVE MY COUNTRY, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

My warmest regards to all of you, my dear friends, in the wonderful name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ of God.

I write to you as one who cherishes your love and friendship. I also write to you as a minister of God; one who has chosen to preach His Word and to uphold the standards of His holy faith in righteousness and truth without fear or favoritism.

Let me further say that we should not forget that we should not forget that God is in charge; that the Lord Jesus Christ is still the King of kings, that He is alive, all powerful, and rules over every kingdom and government of this world today; and that He inspired our God-fearing fore-fathers to found this country on decent, moral, wholesome, biblical values and principles.

It is a shame that our nation which began with such "trust in God" should turn its back on Him and His Word to be deceived by a greedy media seeking sensationalism rather than truth; by demoniszed and totally selfish drug lords; by baby murders through legalized abortions; legalized suicides; sex crazed advertising and entertainment; encouraging Youth to be involved in sez (that's child abuse in my book); encouraging children to have different values than their parents; refusing to allow parents discipline their children; laws against God and His Word; laws that protect the guilty rather than the innocent; homosexuality, lesbianism; and by taking the humanistic psychological approach to our problems rather than God;s proven Word.

It is my profound and firm conviction that the only solution in delivering our nation from these devestating atrosities lies in the fervent prayers of God's people who put action with their prayers.

Friends and loved ones, if we continue in apathy, there is no hope of America escaping sure judgement.

Let me also say that the salvation of America does not wholly lie in any particular political movement, or politician, but God does expect us to prayerfully and wisely choose our leaders, and then to communicate with them to communicate with them our desires and convictions as He has given us that right and privilege through our constitutution.

For the sake of our nation, our children and loved ones, pray fervently and consistantly; and seek the Lord regularly, daily.

Then call or write your congressman, your senators and assemblymen. Put action with your prayers.

Never give up, Never -- Never -- Never, and May God save our homeland, our country.
