Just friends, that's what we were.
After traveling together, what did occur?
Upon home's return, our hearts did stir.
Her for him, Him for her!
Life is good, and the Lord has been very good to me. A few years ago, I thought I was happy, although it had been almost 20 years since my second divorce and hadn't seen or heard much of my six kids for a long time, (this is not exactly true, because my oldest son - who has 4 of the grand kids, has always kept in touch with me). I can tell you that it is worth the wait for the right gal in your life. Because of my attitude and loneliness, this website was very pathetic for some years, but I'm sure you will notice a change in the site; if, in fact, you had ever logged
into it before. Let me bow out for a while and you can read the next few words from the "girl of my dreams", the lovely and affectionate Laura, (known intimately as "Rod's little girl"). I found that when I was to be married after all these years, I started communicating with my kids again, and I have 10 grand kids!
Here is the highlight of my life as told by the lovely and gracious Laura:
Rod and Laura had been friends for about three years. They met when Laura was taking a Desktop Publishing course. Rod was her teacher.
In the summer of 1998, Laura had decided to spend the summer traveling. Through the course of events, they decided that Rod would accompany her on this adventure. They spent the summer traveling through the Sierra Nevada Mountains and parts of Nevada. They got to know Fallon, NV quite well and also became very familiar with the Lake Tahoe area. Nearly every weekend for four months was spent camping in the mountains above Tahoe, mostly near Highway 88. Highway 88 in their estimation is the most beautiful part of California. It was a wonderful summer and the arrangement paved the way for them to become very close friends.
In October they decided it was time to go home. Rod told Laura that he would be happy to come back to the Palm Springs area with her to help ready her house to sell. It was a very welcomed offer. So on to Cathedral City they went.
They had been back in the desert for about two weeks and had hardly seen each other during that time. Rod had been off seeing his friends and Laura had been off seeing hers. They went from spending nearly 24 hours a days, seven days a week in each other's company to ships passing in the night.
Two weeks went by and unbeknownst to both of them, they had each been missing the other! One night Rod put his arms around Laura and said, "You know, I've kind of missed you."
Two weeks later Rod told Laura that he was in love with her. Two weeks after that he asked her to become his wife and spend the rest of her life with him.
The wedding was December 5, 1998. They spend a lot of time laughing with each other, friends have commented about that. They enjoy being with each other as much as the cares of this world allow.
